GOAL

The objective of Word Defense is to takeover more letters on the board than your opponent. Word Defense is a 2-player word game, and players get notified when it is their turn to play. At the start of a game, you are presented with a 5x5 grid of random letters :

On your turn, you can use any letters to build a word. The letter tiles do not need to be adjacent; you can tap from anywhere.
After you submit your word, the tiles you used turn blue. Then it is your opponent's turn to make a word. The tiles used by your opponent turn red.
Blue letters are yours, and red letters to the opponent.

As you have no doubt noticed: there are tiles much darker than others.

Word Defense allows you to protect a tile from being stolen by surrounding it with other tiles of the same color.
Players may use defended tiles to make a word, but they will not change color and will not score a point for it.
Defended tiles are not permanent, they will become vulnerable if one of their neighbors is stolen.

VALID WORDS

Valid words up to 15 letters (excluding proper nouns, abbreviations or acronyms).

A word may only be played once.

You cannot play words found at the beginning of previously played words. For exemple, if the word BOOKSHELF was played then the following words cannot be played :
BOOK
BOOKS

GAME END

The game ends when every tile on the board has a color and the player with the highest score wins.

If a player gives up, then he loses the game.

A player can put an end to a game if his opponent does not play within the 15 minutes time limit.
